The Grand Reset

… or why I’m deleting everything and starting again

I need to talk you through some big changes that are on the horizon.

I know this post is long – but it’s really important that you read it. These are the biggest set of changes since I started this project in 2020.

In fact, I would say it’s more of a hard reset than changes.

Before we get into it, let me pop some reassurances out there.

  • I will continue to make films (of course)

  • Those films will have extreme, brutal, and/or gory scenes

  • If you like my current films, you will find lots for you in what’s coming next

Before I dive into the changes and timescales, I’m going to cover the reasons behind the changes – because the context will help you understand why I’m doing this.

The hard, unfortunate truth is that content guidelines across platforms are getting stricter and stricter and I find myself increasingly on the wrong side of them.

I’ve lost 4 YouTube channels, Instagram keeps taking down my images and won’t show my work to non-followers, X takes down my work regularly and I’m shadow-banned there. And, as you’ll all be aware, Vimeo deleted my account, and with it six years of my films that were available to stream. 

Even though Patreon is incredibly supportive of all its creators, it’s impossible not to wonder how long they can hold out for against pressure from banks and payment platforms.

It’s hard to look at the big picture and not feel like the walls are closing in. And I can’t escape the feeling that Grindhouse North will eventually be deleted everywhere.

So I’m left with a choice between doing the hard thing now OR doing the much harder thing down the road.

The hard thing now is a totally creative reset to ensure the long-term sustainability of what we’ve all worked hard to build over the past six years.

The much harder thing down the road is carrying on and one day waking up to everything being deleted – without warning.

When we look at it in those terms, it’s hardly a choice – is it?

So I’m going to start over – a full reset.

But what does that actually look like?

Grindhouse North will cease to be later this year and will be replaced with Bloodline Pictures.

Bloodline Pictures will look and feel and present itself to the world for exactly what it is – a low budget, high output, b-movie production company run by someone who has watched far too many giallo films and grindhouse movies.

If you’ve been a fan for a while you’ll have heard me time again talking about how my ambition is to make longer, more involved films.

I’ve come close to living up to that ambition – with the likes of The Death of a Diplomat, The Daughters of Alfredo Martino, The Humber City Ripper etc.

With Bloodline Pictures, that’s all I’m going to make.

Along with the main releases you can expect a lot of …

  • filmmaker diary

  • BTS content

  • SFX tests (showing how we do things and the end result)

  • Scene breakdowns

  • Audition tapes

  • Alternate endings

  • Cast interviews

  • More updates

  • More polls

  • More photos from on set

… basically, all the types of things you’d expect from a movie production company.

You can also expect more male actors and more male death scenes.

I have lots of ideas for different types of content, the schedule, and how everything will be delivered. I’m going to hold off talking about that now for a few different reasons …

  • I don’t want to make this page longer than it has to be

  • It’s 100% worth it’s own post

  • It might change between now and launch

I’m also going to start a new YouTube channel where I talk about how to be a one-man film crew as well as talking about films and directors etc that have influenced me. I’ll also be doing some censored trailers and BTS stuff for YouTube.

As I’m sure you can appreciate this is a huge undertaking and I need to create some time and space to get everything sorted.

With that in mind, please note the following key points …

  • July will be the last normal release month

  • There will be no new releases through August and September

  • Through August I will re-release 31 films (one film every day)

  • I will be re-release 30 films in September (one film every day)

  • There will be an archive fire sale running through August and September

  • Bloodline Pictures launches October 1

So if there was a Grindhouse North or Project Horror film that you wanted for your collection, you can request it via Patreon.

By September 30th, all posts will be deleted on Patreon, and I’ll probably delete all posts on X and Instagram early August.

And then the era of Bloodline Pictures will truly begin.

I hope over the past six years I have proved myself to you time and time again. I hope to do that again with Bloodline Pictures.
